What a redirect checker shows
A redirect sends a visitor from one address to another. Browsers hide this, so you cannot see how many hops a page really takes. This free redirect checker follows your address hop by hop and shows every status code (301, 302, 307, 308), the time each hop took, and where the chain finally ends.
Why redirect chains matter for SEO and speed
Every extra redirect adds waiting time for visitors and can pass a little less search value to the final page. Long chains, redirect loops, temporary redirects that should be permanent, and links that drop from HTTPS to HTTP are common causes of lost rankings after a site move, an HTTPS switch or a redesign.
How to use it
- Paste the address you want to test, with or without https://.
- Press “Check redirects” and read the chain from the first hop to the last.
- Fix anything marked “Fix” or “Improve”: the tip under each finding says how.
Tip: test the www and non-www versions of your address, and the http and https versions, to be sure they all end on one page after a single redirect.
